Pokemon Go trading is now available on iOS, Android

Pokémon GO trading is now possible thanks to an update released earlier in the week.

The update brings a new friendship system to the game, allowing friends at various tiers to trade Pokémon between one another.

To trade with someone, you’ll first need to become friends, Niantic confirmed, adding that you can have 200 Friends at once.

“In order to add a friend in Pokémon GO, you must first ask them to share their Trainer Code with you,” the developer advised. “To invite a Trainer to become your friend, simply enter their Trainer Code and then send them a request. If they accept, you’ll become friends, and you’ll see them in your Friends List.”

Here’s the level of friendship you’ll need to be able to trade specific Pokémon, alongside other bonuses:

  • 1 Day (Good friend): You can trade all Pokémon except Mythical ones.
  • 7 Days (Great friend): You get a Stardust discount for trading, an attack bonus during gym battles with that friend and 1 additional Premiere Ball for Raids undergone with that friend.
  • 30 Days (Ultra friend): You get a further Stardust discount for trading, larger attack bonus during gym battles and 2 additional Premiere Balls for Raids with that friend.
  • 90 Days (Best friend): You get a major Stardust discount for trading, largest attack bonus during gym battles and 4 additional Premiere Balls for Raids.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows — players are only able to make one Pokémon trade per day, and each trade costs in-game currency, or Stardust.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices.
