PlayStation pulls “previously purchased” digital movies from users’ accounts

A total of 551 movies have been removed from users' libraries.

PlayStation has pulled a total of 551 digital movies from users who’ve “previously purchased” them, citing “content licensing arrangements” that really illustrate you don’t really own the digital things you’ve paid for.

“As of 1 September 2026 due to our content licensing arrangements, you will no longer be able to watch any of your previously purchased Studio Canal content and the content will be removed from your video library,” PlayStation told impacted users, complete with an email footer that added, “Play with no limits.”

The full list of impacted films is here, and includes the likes of Bridget Jones’ Diary, Evil Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn, Hot Fuzz, Rambo First Blood, and many more.

Sony’s ability to do this lies in the terms and conditions we’ve all agreed to when “purchasing” the license for a digital product… which perhaps makes a stronger argument for buying physical media wherever you can.
