Onimusha Way of the Sword release date moved up to 4 September

"The game is now striking weeks sooner than anticipated," Capcom confirms.

Capcom has brought forward the release date of Onimusha Way of the Sword in order to get out of the way of other games that have placed their release dates in an attempt to get out of the way of Grand Theft Auto 6.

As a result, Onimusha Way of the Sword will now be released on 4 September.

The reason for the move wasn’t actually detailed by Capcom, of course, which also reminded players that a demo for the title is also available.

Onimusha Way of the Sword was originally planned for a 25 September release, directly in competition with the likes of Control Resonant and Silent Hill Townfall either on, or the day after, the same release date.

We can now expect Onimusha Way of the Sword from 4 September 2026 on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, alongside Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, and Switch 2.
