What? You thought acquisitions were over?
Nintendo has acquired longtime development partner SRD Co. Ltd, the publisher has recently announced.
SRD has worked with Nintendo on a range of titles for close to forty years, including titles such as Animal Crossing New Horizons, Ring Fit Adventure and Game Builder Garage.
“SRD is a development company which has been closely involved for nearly four decades in developing Nintendo video game software,” reads a statement.
“Completion of the Acquisition (exclusive of treasury stock) will serve to strengthen the management base of SRD and secure the availability of software development resources for Nintendo, in addition to facilitating an anticipated improvement in software development efficiency.”
The statement concludes that the acquisition will have “only a minor effect” on Nintendo’s financial results. While the deal is expected to close on 1 April, it’s unclear how much Nintendo has paid for SRD.
