New playable characters for Disney Infinity unveiled at D23 Expo

Today at the D23 Expo being held in Anaheim, Califoria, Disney Interactive revealed a whole range of new playable characters and collectible figurines for Disney Infinity.

Joining the already announced Monsters University, The Incredibles, Pirates of the Carribean, Cars and The Lone Ranger playsets is the Toy Story in Space playset. This 6th playset will feature Woody, Buzz and Jessie on a quest to help relocate the Pizza Planet aliens to a new homeworld. Toy Story in Space will feature a whole host of new toys to use in the Toy Box including jetpacks, new weapons and new mounts. Toy Story in Space will be available in October.

Also joining the Infinity gang are:

  • Rapunzel (Tangled);
  • Vanellope von Schweetz and Ralph (Wreck-it Ralph);
  • Jack Skellington (The Nightmare before Christmas);
  • Phineas and Agent P (Phineas and Ferb);
  • Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey (Fantasia); and
  • Anna and Elsa from the upcoming Disney animated feature Frozen.

Beginning with Toy Story in Space, the new characters and figures will become available from October and through to 2014. Additionally, when players get their hands on Infinity at launch, they’ll be able to download a Toy Box recreation of Disneyland, created by the team at Avalanche.

Disney Infinity will be available for 3DS, PC, PS3, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360 on 22 August.
