Minecraft on Xbox gets festive and a little bit frisky with the latest update

Ho ho ho Minecraft fans. Get ready to deck the halls with potions and have an “enchanting” new year as the latest update heads to the Xbox 360 version. The update will essentially be the 1.0.1 update of the version – without “The End” which is promised for the next update – and includes;

  • Breeding animals: By feeding two of the same animal particular food they’ll kiss and make a baby;
  • Brewing: The new brewing stand allows the creation of potions;
  • XP: Experience orbs can be collected from mining, killing mobs and all manner of other activities and are used  for enchanting; and
  • Enchanting: Use the new enchantment table to imbue your items with special abilities.

Plus a new land type that is used for growing mushrooms and a new building – the Nether fortress – which may appear in the Nether and acts like a Stronghold.

Also available this week – for 80 MSP – is the “Festive Skin Pack”, allowing you to dress up as Santa, Mrs. Clause and a whole host of holiday themed characters.

The full list of add-ons and fixes that come with the update can be found here.
