Minecraft Bedrock update brings cross-play, Achievements to Switch

The Minecraft Bedrock update is now available on Nintendo Switch, offering its players cross-platform play between Switch, Xbox One, PC and mobile. Moreover, players on Switch can now earn Xbox Achievements through gameplay.

The update will be provided free to those who already own Minecraft on Switch. If you don’t own the game, you can grab the title for $30 USD.

Cross-platform support is through a user’s Microsoft Account, one “that allows Minecraft players on Switch to play with others on non-Nintendo devices like iOS, Android, Xbox One and Windows 10 via cross-play, Realms or Servers,” an FAQ reads.

“Having a Microsoft Account also enables the portability of your MINECOINS and marketplace purchases to other devices and platforms.”

Minecraft is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch and mobile devices. Cross-platform play is not supported on PS4.
