Microsoft removing free streaming option from Xbox Music

From 1 December cheapskates will no longer be able to enjoy music for free via Xbox Music. Microsoft has announced that it is removing the free, ad-filled option as “[w]e are focusing Xbox Music to deliver the ultimate music purchase and subscription service experience for our customers.”

The Music Pass ($11.99 AUD per month) will be the only option available to subscribers after 1 December. Any songs previously purchased, music added from your own library and playlists created will still be available without a subscription, although you’ll have to own the music in the playlist to play it. Otherwise you’ll need to subscribe.

Anyone use Xbox Music?
