Microsoft now offering a free copy of Forza 5 with European Xbox One Day One edition pre-orders

Brace yourselves gamers, cause this gets a bit confusing.

First, Microsoft confirmed that all Xbox One pre-orders would come with  a copy of FIFA 14.

Then, Microsoft’s Graeme Boyd elaborated that only Xbox One Day One edition pre-orders in Europe would be eligible for the free title.

Now, Microsoft has said that they’ve run out of copies of FIFA 14 to allocate, so any new Xbox One Day One pre-orders will now get a copy of Forza Motorsport 5 instead.

“Due to unprecedented demand, the Xbox One Day One Edition with FIFA 14 is nearly sold out, but is still available at certain retailers,” said a Microsoft spokesperson in an email to The Verge.

“These are only on pre-orders for the Day One Edition bundle which are in limited supply at selected retailers in the UK,” the spokesperson added.

It’s not clear how customers will know if they’re getting a copy of FIFA 14 or Forza Motorsport 5 with their pre-order, though we’d suggest customers get in touch with the retailer who has taken their initial pre-order.

If you’re in Europe, what do you think of this news? Are you considering cancelling a current pre-order to try to get Forza bundled for free instead?

The Xbox One will be available in Australia from 22 November. All Xbox One pre-orders in Australia will receive a copy of FIFA 14, “while stocks last.”
