Lord of the Rings Gollum release date set; Switch release comes later

We've got some sad news for Switch fans.

The Lord of the Rings Gollum finally has a release date on most platforms: 1 September 2022.

News of the game’s release date on PC, Xbox and PlayStation was dropped by Daedalic Entertainment and publisher Nacon, in partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises. Sadly, the group also advised that a Switch version will follow later on in 2022.

“Take on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to him,” Daedalic said, explaining the title. “From his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood, climb, leap, and sneak your way past dangers. Skillful and sly, Gollum is also torn by his split personality.

“It is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.”

The Lord of the Rings Gollum heads to Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5 from 1 September 2022. A Switch release will follow sometime later in 2022.
