LG 2021 home entertainment range includes rollable OLED TV

It's like the future, but today!

LG has unveiled its 2021 home entertainment range and that includes a new rollable OLED TV.

The LG Signature R1 Rollable OLED TV will be available in 65-inch format for a casual $130,000 AUD and rolls into three different configurations, all shown above: full, line or zero views. If you’ve got the bank, the rollable TV can be yours from July 2021.

“A revolutionary new experience, the LG R1 Rollable OLED TV features ground-breaking technology that not only reimagines what a TV is capable of but revolutionises the way people use their space,” LG said of the unit. “The ultra-thin flexible OLED screen rolls into a state-of-the-art sound system and features the company’s self-lit pixel technology. LG OLED creates a vivid life-like image through millions of pixels that turn on and off to achieve perfect black and infinite contrast, delivering a realistic viewing experience without the restrictions of backlight technology.”

The custom-made-to-order TV also offers voice commands via LG ThinQ, which works with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

OLED range

LG’s OLED TV range includes 15 different models across 5 different series in 2021, with free delivery and installation for units over 77″ and above.

The lineup starts at a recommended retail price of just over $3,000 AUD.

QNED Mini LED range

For the first time, LG will offer its new QNED Mini LED range in 2021.

“To create this new kind of LCD TV, LG combined the best LCD light source, Mini LED, with the best colour enhancement technologies, taking the best of both quantum dot and NanoCell to further enhance the ability to represent and create outstanding colour,” the company stated.

“The LG QNED Mini LED TVs also have more dimming zones and smaller light sources, which allows for more precise control of brightness, deeper blacks and increased contrast ratio. While LG OLED is the company’s leading TV display technology, LG QNED Mini LED TVs offer an exceptional option for Australian consumers.”

Pricing on the new range — with the initial number at the front of each model specifying its size — is as follows:

  • 86QNED99: $10,799 AUD
  • 75QNED99: $7,799 AUD
  • 65QNED99: $5,999 AUD
  • 75QNED96: $6,599 AUD
  • 65QNED96: $6,599 AUD
  • 86QNED91: $8,399 AUD
  • 75QNED91: $5,999 AUD
  • 65QNED91: $4,799 AUD

With the above models, the first two numbers in the range designates its size (ie 65QNED91 is 65″).

All TV models in the 2021 range come with a Magic Remote, Sound Share to up to three different sets of headphones using the LG ThinQ app, a Game Mode Optimiser and included apps like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, Stan, Spotify, Plex, ABC iView, Twitch and more.
