Kayo Sports planning PS4 and Xbox One app launch in early 2019

Kayo Sports CEO Julian Ogrin has confirmed his company plans to release an app for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as LG and Samsung smart TVs, in early 2019.

“That’s just around the corner,” Ogrin told Macquarie Sports Radio when hosts Mark Allen and David Schwarz questioned why Kayo Sports refers to itself as the “Netflix of sport” when Netflix is considerably easier to access than Kayo Sports on a television, by simply “going to the Netflix button”.

“We have plans for the smart TVs, and the main providers here in Australia are Samsung and LG; and the gaming consoles like PS4, PlayStation 4, and Xbox [One] are certainly on our roadmap for early next year,” he said.

Kayo Sports support previously told us “Xbox is on the radar”, but this is the first concrete confirmation we have that Xbox One and PS4 apps are in development, as well as LG and Samsung TV apps.

In the meantime, Kayo Sports can be used on Xbox One using the Edge browser.
