Say hello to We Forgot a Card, MegaPals, Idol Factions, Debate and Switch, and Hyperface.
Jackbox Games has detailed each of the five new party games that will be found inside Jackbox Party Pack 12: We Forgot a Card, MegaPals, Idol Factions, Debate and Switch, and Hyperface.
First, We Forgot a Card will have players design unusual greeting cards for events that are certainly not the norm.
“We were inspired by all the funny cliches around greeting cards,” Jackbox studio creative director Arnie Niekamp told the PlayStation Blog, “and that familiar feeling of being in a not-great store but you have to find something fast because you’re already late to a party.”
MegaPals, meanwhile, makes players submit as many associated words as possible in a given time, all connected to a one-word prompt issued at the outset.
“We were inspired by folk games like Mind Meld and Contact where you try to think alike in very few words,” said game director Alina Constantin. “We wanted to spotlight the common takes as well as the weird misses, and allow players to riff off their group’s train of thought.”
Idol Factions is a team-based game that tasks players to sort words into appropriate categories, requiring communication and teamwork.
“This game is going to be perfect for gathering on a big ol’ comfy couch so you can scream your heads off about why an answer belongs in the category ‘Type of Cheese’ and not ‘The Last Name of a British Prime Minister.’” said game director Warren Arnold.
Next, Debate and Switch will provide players with “bizzare hypothetical” situations they will instantly need to defend.
“The original inspiration was the movie Rat Race, and then I realized there was already a board game version of what I was working on: Pricetitution. So we ditched the terrible scenarios and pricing and delved more into debate mechanics.” said game pitcher Nate Sandberg.
Finally, Hyperface will use photos that need to be edited according to a given prompt. Players can choose from stock photos, or take their own using their smartphone’s camera.
“Who among us hasn’t added a mustache to a magazine photo? If you’re ready for the power-user version, where you’re smudging someone’s nose like it’s made of taffy, this game is for you,” said game director Tim Sniffen.
We’ll update you as we learn more about The Jackbox Party Pack 12. For now, it’s planned for a release later in 2026 on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store alongside Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and iOS.
