Horror legend Shinji Mikami leaving Tango “in the coming months”

No word yet on what he'll be up to next.

Survival horror icon Shinji Mikami will leave Tango Gameworks, a studio he founded, “in the coming months”.

Tango’s owner Bethesda made the confirmation over Twitter yesterday.

“We can confirm that Shinji Mikami has decided to leave Tango Gameworks in the coming months,” a post states. “We thank him for his work as a creative leader and supportive mentor to young developers on The Evil Within franchise, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and, of course, Hi-Fi Rush.

“We with Mikami-san well in the future and are excited for what lies ahead for the talented developers at Tango,” Bethesda continued.

Mikami has had a long and illustrious career, working on titles including the Resident Evil franchise, Dino Crisis, Vanquish and more. We went in-depth into his efforts inside Resident Evil right here.

We also ran into him at E3 the one time.

It’s unclear what Mikami-san will be up to next; we’ll update you as we learn more.
