Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to 2017; pre-order bonuses detailed

Guerrilla Games took to the PlayStation Blog today to announce that Horizon: Zero Dawn has been delayed into 2017.

Now launching 28 February 2017, Guerilla said the delay was needed to further polish the game.

“It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it,” Guerrilla’s Hermen Hulst said. “However, we also want to ensure that Horizon: Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon: Zero Dawn.”

A new trailer was also released to soften the blow of the delay.

Moreover, those who pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store will receive the game’s “Nora Machine-Trapper” DLC pack as a bonus. The pack contains “modifications to increase the accuracy and damage of your weapon, and add elemental resistances to your outfit. It also contains crafting resources to ensure you are well-stocked with arrows, traps or mines to overcome the Machines you encounter,” Sony advised.

Over in North America, those who pre-order from GameStop (so hopefully EB Games here in Australia) will also get retailer-exclusive content in the form of new armor and weaponry.

Expect Horizon: Zero Dawn from 28 February 2017 in North America and 1 March in Australia and New Zealand on PS4. We previewed the game at last year’s E3.
