God of War‘s final secret has been uncovered by fans, many of whom were left wanting more.
Be warned that spoilers follow — read at your own risk.
Fans rushed back to God of War after Game Director, Cory Barlog, hinted that a final secret was still in the wild. Barlog even went as far as to confirm that the secret could be found inside Kratos’ home. That on its own meant some players had to start up a new game to look around, as you lose access to the home at a certain point in the game.
Turns out, the big secret wasn’t too big at all — fans discovered that a series of runes in Kratos’ home spell out “Loki” — the name Atreus’ mother Faye wanted to give him.
While this would have been neat if left unrevealed over the course of the game, those who’ve finished God of War already knew that. Secret? No. Easter egg? Yes.
Sony Santa Monica has since taken to Twitter to confirm that the runes constituted what it considers the game’s final secret.

Whether you’re happy with this being the game’s final secret or not, the ramifications of Atreus-as-Loki mean big things for the franchise. Sony Santa Monica’s Joe Kennedy alluded to this in a tweet that was meant to help uncover the secret. In it, Kennedy wrote, “#FayeKnew.”
