Fallout 4’s shooting mechanics were influenced by Destiny

In the effort to ensure Fallout 4 is the masterpiece I really hope it is Bethesda have turned to Destiny to perfect their shooting mechanics.

One of the only criticisms I could ever level at Fallout 3 is that the shooting mechanics were, frankly, not very good. Destiny on the other hand, and despite all its flaws, has some of the best feeling shooting mechanics in recent memory. It makes sense then that Bethesda would turn to Bungie for advice to deliver the good gunplay Fallout 4 needs.

“The main difference in the way we develop [and other studios] is that we will develop with as many knobs as possible,” said Bethesda’s Todd Howard to Game Informer. “We’re always thinking of scale. We’re not a team that is just going to make eight guns and spend forever on one gun. We knew we were going to have thousands, so we needed to develop a gun system that had all of the dials.”

Fallout 4 releases 10 November (yay!) for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
