Overwatch League Grand Finals set for July in Brooklyn

Overwatch League Grand Finals will take place in Brooklyn, New York at the end of July, Blizzard has confirmed.

Matches will be held at Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn over 28-29 July in Australian time.

Regular season play finishes on 18 June, with postseason playoff action kicking off between six teams from 12 July. Two teams will advance to the finals in Brooklyn later that month.

The Grand Finals for the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, which will determine the champions of the world’s first global city-based esports league, will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, over 28-29 July, 2018 AEST/NZST.

A $1.4million USD prize pool will be up for grabs.

“The Overwatch League Grand Finals will be an epic experience for fans and viewers,” said league commissioner Nate Nanzer. “We want this to be the pinnacle of esports, and holding it at a world-class venue like Barclays Center, in a global capital like New York, will help us celebrate not only the league’s two best teams, but the fans, partners, and players who have joined us on this incredible journey.”

Tickets for the two-day event go on sale 19 May. The event will be livestreamed for us Aussies.

Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
