G2 Esports make history by winning the first Rainbow Six Major Paris

G2 Esports has made history by winning the first Six Major Paris in convincing fashion 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 (3-0) over Evil Geniuses.

The European team dominated their North American counterparts from the outset, and finished very on-brand to allow the announcer to call “6-2, 6-2, 6-2, G2!”.

The favourites entering the competition were never really troubled during the best of five maps grand final, which only required the minimum three maps to be played. To their credit, when the result was all but certain, Evil Geniuses fought back to win two rounds back-to-back in the third map, after winning the opening round of the second, but it was all to no avail.

The live crowd support was originally mixed across both teams, but as G2 gained the ascendancy, the cheers were deafening and the European, though mostly French, home crowd jumped on their closest allies, and what has quickly become the best team in the world and defending champions.

In many ways this was a more lopsided rematch of the 2018 Six Invitational where Penta Sports, now effectively G2 Esports, defeated Evil Geniuses 3-2. Following that tighter victory, Penta was acquired by and rebranded as G2 in the Rainbow Six Pro League.

Rainbow Six Siege Six Major Paris final score: G2 Esports defeated Evil Geniuses 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 (3-0) in Paris, France on 19 August 2018.
