Fortress Melbourne Firefights a new online tourney with $500 prize pool

Fortress Melbourne Firefights is the venue’s new, weekly casual gaming tournament and will offer up a $500 prize pool in its first week.

“Fortress Melbourne is proud to present our first weekly casual gaming event, Firefights, featuring a regular rotation of the hottest shooter games, open to participants of all skill levels,” the event’s pre-registration page reads.

“Experience the thrill of a premium gaming event and watch your friends (or yourself) play on the big screen, broadcast live on Twitch with professional commentary so you can spread your legend across the Internet.”

Full event details are coming soon — including dates and games, we’d assume — though Fortress Melbourne is encouraging pre-registration with an Alienware prize pack that includes a 27″ 240Hz IPS Gaming Monitor, Low Profile RGB Gaming Keyboard, 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset and AW510M Gaming Mouse. Participation in the weekly event will set you back $15 AUD (per week, we’re also assuming).

Fortress Melbourne briefly opened back in March 2020 before quickly closing its doors due to the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis. Firefights is kicking off sometime in May 2020, its organisers have confirmed.
