Origin Accounts are becoming EA Accounts over the next few weeks, as EA undertakes a renaming of their online account “to better represent all of EA’s games and services.” For users it is purely a name change, bringing everything under the singular EA brand. Your account itself remains unchanged including purchases and preferences.
While nothing has been said about any rebranding of EA’s online games services Origin, just to confuse things you will now access Origin through your EA Account. I doubt Origin itself is going anywhere, but will we soon be using EA Online or something else with an equally sterile name instead of Origin?
