Sony and toy manufacturer Takara Tomy are releasing a special edition Optimus Prime to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Transformers and the 20th anniversary of PlayStation.
Optimus Prime featuring Original PlayStation is the rather snappy name given to the new toy which will be available early 2015. The new figure will transform between the robot version of Optimus Prime and a PS1 rather than the traditional truck he’s known for.
The Autobots aren’t the only ones getting the console makeover with Decepticon leader Megatron receiving a special MegaDrive edition later this year. Takara Tomy will also release a series of 1/6 scale toys based on the PlayStation consoles and controllers as part of the PlayStation History Collection.
