Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event on now

T'is the season.

Update: The Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event is on now and runs through to 3 January in Australia, Activision Blizzard has advised.

The annoucement comes with new details about the event, as follows:

  • Aid Gileon, the bard, as he seeks to reignite the holiday spirit in the townsfolk of Kyovashad after hearing rumors about spiteful dangers lurking in the snow and bringing down citizens’ morale.
  • Visit the Midwinter Square, located in Kyovashad, to build up festive spirit and upgrade the square to its full holiday potential through slaying the pale blue Blightfiends lurking in Fractured Peaks for their Blighted Fragments.
  • Interrupt the Blightfiends’ Blighted Revelry by destroying the jumble of human viscera known as Frigid Husks and recovering Lost Heirlooms which can also be used to upgrade the square.
  • Punish enough Blightfiends for defiling the Fractured Peaks residents and you may find yourself face to face with their sadistic overlord, the Red-Cloaked Horror.
  • Visit the Collections Table in Midwinter Square once you have enough Blighted Fragments, Lost Heirlooms, and other Midwinter Blight resources to trade them for Midwinter Proofs. These can be traded for a variety of rewards including: A Mount Trophy, Class-specific Back Trophies, Weapon Cosmetics, the Shard of Dawn Offensive Legendary Aspect, Gileon’s Brew, and more.

Original post: Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight is the name of a limited-time event heading to the game in mid-December, Activision Blizzard has today advised.

Timed for the holiday season — and itself within the Season of Blood — the Midwinter Blight event kicks off here in Australia on 13 December. It’s unclear how long the event will last.

“A new horror lurks in Fractured Peaks in Midwinter Blight,” Activision Blizzard said in a press release. “Become the hero of Midwinter by defeating new monsters, completing quests, and earning event progress. You can also decorate the Midwinter Square with your bloody trophies to bring hope to the people of Fractured Peaks. But be careful, a dangerous creature known as the Red Cloaked Horror stalks the lands with its Blightfiend underlings.”

Before that, though, comes the new Abbattoir of Zir, which begins on 6 December.

“This endgame pinnacle dungeon will give you 10 minutes to slay all enemies and defeat Lord Zir’s loyal Bloodseekers,” Blizzard continued. “Upon success, you may descend further into the Abattoir, but each new tier will provide a more harrowing challenge. The Tears of Blood Glyph is essential to conquering the various profligates dwelling in the Abattoir.”
