Update: The maintenance period looks to be winding down and the queuing system seems to be re-enabled.
We’re 18,920th in the queue at the moment on PC… so maybe time to grab another coffee…
Original story: Destiny 2 in both its forms — New Light and the new Shadowkeep paid expansion — are both offline for emergency maintenance, Bungie has declared.
It’s believed that a massive increase in player numbers, both from the game’s new free-to-play model and the release of the Shadowkeep expansion, are to blame for server issues that require further attention from the game’s developer.
“Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are being taken offline for emergency maintenance,” the Bungie Help Twitter account stated a little more than an hour ago. “Please standby for updates.”
Ahead of the maintenance, Bungie had enabled a feature that advised that Destiny 2 was at capacity; new players would be added when possible via a login queue.
We’ll let you know when Destiny 2‘s emergency maintenance has finished.
