Destiny 2 Legacy Collection goes free via PlayStation Plus as Bungie delivers final update

RIP, looter shooter.

Following on from the news that Bungie will deliver Destiny 2‘s final update on 10 June here in Australia, parent company Sony has announced that the game’s Legacy Collection will be added to PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe tiers on that same day.

Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025), including The Final Shape expansion, will be available for Extra and Premium/Deluxe members from June 9,” Sony said as part of a post promoting its Days of Play initiative. “The rest of the Game Catalog lineup will be fully revealed next month.”

This means that the following content, plus the already free-to-play base game (of course), will be available to subscribers:

  • The Final Shape Standard Edition
  • Lightfall Standard Edition
  • The Witch Queen Standard Edition
  • Beyond Light Pack
  • Shadowkeep Pack
  • Forsaken Pack
  • 30th Anniversary Pack
  • Pit of Heresy Dungeon
  • Shattered Throne Dungeon
  • Grasp of Avarice Dungeon

The Legacy Collection does not include any content that’s been vaulted by Bungie, nor does it contain newer expansions Edge of Fate or the Star Wars-themed Renegades expansion.

As Bungie noted last week, it will stop active development of Destiny 2 from 10 June, though the game will remain online and “playable”.

Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5.
