And 60FPS on current-gen.
Dead Island 2 will target at 30FPS (frames-per-second) on last-gen consoles and 60FPS on current-gen, developer Dambuster Studios has confirmed with Stevivor.
“I’m happy to call out the main difference between gen 8 [last-gen; Xbox One and PS4] and gen 9 [current-gen Xbox Series and PS5],” Stenton us in a preview session. “Gen 8, in a nutshell, is 30 frames-per-second — as you would probably expect — and gen 9 is 60 frames-per-second.”
“All of the gore tech, fundamentally, is exactly the same for gen 8 and gen 9, it’s all modeled in the same way. Obviously you can expect certain things, certain aspects, of fidelity to be a little bit lower on gen 8, but yeah, it’s all intact.”
We spent a great deal of time talking with Stenton about Dambuster’s ‘Flesh’ gore tech as part of our preview.
“We can get all of this… and run it at 4K60 frames per second, which is the goal on gen 9,” he added.
Dead Island 2 is planned for a 3 February 2023 release on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
