Cricket 22 announced ahead of The Ashes

Cricket begins a new era on PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.

Cricket 22 has been announced a little more than a month before its scheduled release on 25 November 2021 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X & S, PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version to follow in January 2022.

It comes from Nacon and Big Ant Studios, the developers behind The Don Bradman series, Ashes Cricket and Cricket 19. Once again, it delivers the full Ashes licensing, and will launch just before the first Test of the 2021/22 Ashes series on 8 December — now that England has decided it will bother to field a team, that is.

Cricket 22 extends its licensing agreement beyond the headline series, with official representation of Australia’s T20 Big Bash league, the UK’s Hundred, the Caribbean’s CPL, and fully-licensed international teams from Australia, England, the West Indies, New Zealand and Ireland. All across both men’s and women’s competitions.

It also promises a more narrative driven career mode, new bowling and fielding controls, accessibility options to make couch multiplayer a little fairer on your mate who hasn’t spent hours at the virtual crease, and the visual overhaul that comes with being the first current-gen cricket game on PS5 and Xbox Series X & S, including ray-tracing elements.

Following Channel 7’s lead, Michael Slater has been given the boot with a refreshed commentary line-up featuring Michael Atherton, Ian Healy, Mel Jones, Alison Mitchell and David Gower.

Pre-orders across Steam, Xbox and PlayStation will grant access to Cricket 22 The Nets Challenge from mid-October 2021, allowing you plenty of time to get a feel for the conditions.
