Catch up on the story of Tekken with Brian Cox

Not sure what's going on ahead of Tekken 8? Brian's got you covered.

Bandai Namco has teamed up with Succession‘s Brian Cox to catch you up on the story of Tekken ahead of Tekken 8‘s release later this month.

“If you’ve ever wondered what the ‘Devil’ gene is and why the Mishima clan seem hell bent on destroying one another, then check out this great new trailer,” Bandai Namco said in a press release. “Brian Cox recounts the tournaments, twists, and cliffside encounters that make Tekken, Tekken.”

You can check the trailer out below.

Last month, Bandai Namco focused on the story of Tekken 8 itself.

“After Heihachi’s defeat, the world has gone into chaos with Kazuya wreaking havoc with his G Corporation,” Bandai Namco said at the time. “Jin Kazama, his son, and wielder of the Devil Gene is the only one that can stop him. The Dark Awakens tells this epic fight with dynamic cutscenes and sequences smoothly changing between cutscenes and battle.”

If Cox’s story recap has you chomping at the bit for some Tekken, you can take advantage of a current PS5 demo while you wait until the game’s proper release in a few weeks.

We’ve also recently previewed the fighter; there, Joab wrote, “[f]or generations fighting games were built on the idea that earning your way onto the mountain could keep you coming back. It seems they’re finally realising that teaching you how to climb is a way to create even more fans. Tekken 8‘s system is in-depth, compelling and fun, which is great to see.”

Tekken 8 is planned for a 26 January 2024 release on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
