Tekken 8 demo out on PS5, heads to PC, Xbox next week

Don't you just love timed exclusives?

The Tekken 8 demo is out now as a timed exclusive on PS5 before heading to Xbox Series and PC next week.

The demo, which will be available at least until the game’s proper launch on 26 January, contains the following playable content:

  • Story: “The Dark Awakens” Chapter 1
  • Arcade Quest Chapter 1 (content is adjusted for the demo version)
  • Super Ghost Battle
  • Versus mode
    • Playable characters: Jin, Kazuya, Paul, and Nina
    • Available stages: Urban Square (Evening), Yakushima and Sanctum
    • Gallery, with highlighted cutscenes from Tekken through to Tekken 7

This news came alongside a new story trailer for Tekken 8. The trailer itself is embedded above.

“After Heihachi’s defeat, the world has gone into chaos with Kazuya wreaking havoc with his G Corporation,” Bandai Namco added. “Jin Kazama, his son, and wielder of the Devil Gene is the only one that can stop him. The Dark Awakens tells this epic fight with dynamic cutscenes and sequences smoothly changing between cutscenes and battle.”

We sent Joab Gilroy over to Bandai Namco’s Sydney offices the other week to check out Tekken 8. In his preview, Joab wrote, “[f]or generations fighting games were built on the idea that earning your way onto the mountain could keep you coming back. It seems they’re finally realising that teaching you how to climb is a way to create even more fans. Tekken 8‘s system is in-depth, compelling and fun, which is great to see.”

Tekken 8 is planned for a 26 January 2024 release on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
