Call of Duty Black Ops 4 officially announced

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is Treyarch’s next game in the popular franchise, Activision has today confirmed. Turns out, the rumours were true.

The confirmation, accompanied by the the dude-bro #CODBOIIII hashtag, also comes with a release date: 12 October on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. Sorry, Switch users — no CoD for you (at least, not yet).

The announcement bucks the trend for CoD games  this will mark the first time in more than a decade that Call of Duty will head to consoles in October rather than November. It’s likely Activision has moved the game forward so that it doesn’t compete with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

Activision promised we’ll hear more of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on 17 May.
