At a meeting today detailing Xbox One updates, more information on Xbox 360 backwards compatibility was provided to Stevivor.
It was confirmed that any Xbox 360 titles you’ve purchased digitally will appear in the Xbox One Store on your console, waiting for you to redownload.
The 360 games you digitally own can be downloaded in exactly the same way that you can with Xbox One titles you’ve purchased digitally and don’t have installed.
As far as the tech itself, Microsoft confirmed the Xbox One is running an Xbox 360 software emulator. Xbox One functionality will be applied to 360 games, so you can snap apps while playing, take screenshots, record video and even stream using Twitch. The old Xbox 360 guide can also be brought up in-game buy hitting the Xbox One controller’s Menu and Options buttons together.
As far as purchasing new Xbox 360 content is concerned, you won’t be able to buy new content from the Xbox One. Instead, you can use an actual Xbox 360 console or go to Xbox.com.
Xbox One backwards compatibility, giving gamers the chance to play Xbox 360 games on their current-gen hardware, is available now to Preview Program members. It will be released to the general public for the holidays.
