‘Big’ PUBG news is coming at X018, teases Microsoft

Microsoft has headlined its teaser tweet for X018 saying “big” PUBG news will be announced at the live streamed global celebration of Xbox on 10-11 November.

It also promises a look at the Forge DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, State of Decay 2 updates and “more exclusive looks”. None of those are terribly exciting, but if Xbox does have some major surprises up its sleeve, it’s not going to spoil them on social media four days early.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds launched as a game preview timed exclusive on Xbox One in December 2017. It was promoted to full release in September 2018, just before the release of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and its Blackout mode, which is remarkably similar, and a lot more polished.

Timed exclusivity deals usually last 12 months. Assuming that’s true for PUBG, we don’t know if that includes the game preview period or only the 1.0 release on Xbox One. The Korean Ratings Board could have given us an answer, as it suggests PUBG is coming to PS4.
