The Best Fortnite Island is a Game Awards 2023 category for some reason

Adding or detracting from credibility? We'll let you decide.

The Best Fornite Island of the Year is now a Game Awards 2023 category, its organisers have declared.

“For the first-time, Fortnite players around the world can vote in-game and help The Game Awards select The Best Fortnite Island of the year, based on 10 nominated creator-made islands selected by The Game Awards,” reads a press release.

In-game Fortnite map code 0853-1358-8532 will let players explore the nominated islands and vote for their favourite, with the winner to be declared alongside other gongs at The Game Awards on 8 December. Players will also be able to collect optional statues in the islands, with an in-game XP boost awarded to those who collect them all.

“Ever since I hosted Live From Risky Reels in Fortnite in 2019, I’ve been thinking about ways The Game Awards could bring our celebration inside the games we play every day,” said Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards.

“Our Fortnite island is the first experiment in this direction, and I’m particularly excited to help shine the spotlight on the amazing user-generated community around the world,” Keighley continued.
