Barton Lynch Pro Surfing 2022 coming from Aussie dev Bungarra

The title heads to PC via Steam, Xbox and PlayStation later this year.

Barton Lynch Pro Surfing 2022 will head to PC via Steam and Xbox later this year, developed by the Fremantle-based Bungarra Software.

The title will see a release on Windows PC via Steam and Xbox One in spring 2022 thanks to early access programs, then followed up by a release on Xbox Series S & X and PS5 later in the year.

A total of twelve locales will be on offer, including the likes of Manly, the Margaret River and even Tokyo, with free roam surfing available as well. The title will also feature a host of licensed surfing events like the Billabong Pipeline Classic, Quicksilver Pro, and pros including Yago Dora,  Clay Marzo, Nathan Florence, Soli Bailey, Mahina Maeda, Vahine Fierro, Felicity Palmateer and Barton Lynch.

Licensed brands include — but of course, aren’t limited to — O’Neill, Roxy, Volcom, Vans, Boost Mobile. Finally, it sports a soundtrack including Smoking Martha, Kilns, Oly Sherman, Wing Defence, Mesmeriser and Bad Pony, offering “distinctive music that blends well with BL Pro Surfing’s worldwide vibe and fluid physics-based control mechanics,” according to Bungarra.

You can check the title out in action below; while it admittedly doesn’t feature the crazy realistic water tech that the likes of Sea of Thieves can afford to sport, it still looks like good fun nonetheless.

“We are surfers who are passionate about the core sport of surfing, along with the culture and the freedom of our lifestyle,” said Andrew West, CEO of Bungarra Software. “We’ve been building surfing games for years and our very first demo was a simulation.”

To West, the decision to collaborate with surfing legend Lynch was a no-brainer.

“As a world champion, WSL & Olympic commentator as well as a Sport Australia Hall of Fame member, Barton Lynch is a legend of our sport and we are super stoked to be working with him on this title,” West continued.

“We’ve built BL Pro Surfing primarily for surfing gamers, along with anyone interested in our sport and lifestyle. It’s also a game that is accessible for (non gaming) surfers and we hope that they can see the love and passion we’ve put into this project for them.  So while this sports game is pickup and play, it is difficult to master.”
