"There's a fair price to be paid."
A Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Game Pass release won’t be happening, Larian Studios’ Swen Vincke has proclaimed.
Calling the matter a “sensitive” one in conversation with IGN, Vincke said, “we always said from the get-go, [Baldur’s Gate 3] wasn’t going to be on Game Pass, it’s not going to be on Game Pass”.
Vincke continued on to say that Larian is focused on “making a game that has a beginning, middle, and an end” and come complete and devoid of microtransactions.
“We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay,” Vincke continued.
“We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for,” he continued. “Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 was recently released onto Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X; at the same time, it walked away with the honour of Game of the Year at the Game Awards 2023. In Stevivor’s current GOTY program, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already been awarded Best RPG of 2023.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
