Australians complaining of high ping inside Halo Infinite multiplayer

Some BTB matches can go as high as 225 ms in our personal experience.

Aussies are complaining of high ping within Halo Infinite multiplayer across both 4v4 and Big Team Battle modes.

We’ve also noticed that Halo Infinite multiplayer struggles after using quick resume — our advice would be to fully quit out of the game when done and to relaunch when ready to jump back in.

“[I’m] getting high (~200) ping in Australia,” LowlyWizrd wrote on Reddit. “I’d put it to the high influx of traffic for the Halo Infinite servers, but just trying to figure if it’s an isolated case or not.”

Fellow Aussies were quick to respond that the situation wasn’t isolated at all.

“Seems to happen way more often in BTB. Its absolutely pathetic tbh,” offered user MotherBeef. “A F2P game, there would be thousands of players in OCE playing, without a doubt. Yet still the game decides to throw us in 100+ ping matches in seconds of hitting ‘play’. I think 90% of people would rather wait a little bit longer if it meant that you got a match actually within your own country.”

From our own experiences, we’ve encountered ping from anywhere between 25-225 ms in both 4v4 and Big Team Battle games.

You can check ping at any time by enabling a small HUD element that shows your current status. To do so, head to Settings > UI > Network statistics and toggle the option on. That will show a small indicator up in the top right corner of your screen.

We’ve asked Microsoft and 343 Industries for comment on matchmaking and local servers, but haven’t heard back as yet. We’ll update this post with their response when received.

Halo Infinite multiplayer is now live on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Single-player heads to the title on 8 December. Check out our Halo Infinite review in progress right here.
