Australians in the Xbox One preview program finally have access to the one piece of functionality that they’ve demanding since launch: “Xbox, on”.
A Microsoft representative confirmed with Stevivor that Australians will now be able to use the famous voice command to turn on their low-power mode consoles thanks to the preview update released earlier this week. The voice command requires Kinect, of course, and can be toggled off and on via Settings > Power & startup > Power Options.
The update also contains .MKV file playback and more via a new Media Player app. The easiest way to find the app seems to be to stick a USB with video content into your console; once the USB is recognised, you’ll get a prompt to head to the Xbox Store to download the Media Player Preview.
If you’re not in the preview program, at least take heart in knowing you’ll be able to say “Xbox, on” when the official console update hits in September.
