Alan Wake 2 teased in Alan Wake Remastered credits

Please don't make us wait another 8 years for a sequel, Remedy.

Alan Wake 2 is once again being teased by Remedy, this time inside the credits of Alan Wake Remastered.

Those who finish (or simply play the credits of) the remaster of the 2010 Xbox 360 original will be greeted by familiar text: “Alan Wake’s journey through the night will continue.”

That promising statement appeared in both the credits of Remedy’s original work and in a 2012 quasi-sequel titled Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. The latter also contained a song titled “Balance Slays the Demon”, in which a hidden statement is contained. Avid fans noticed a strange phrase inside the song, which when played back offered a simple phrase: “It will happen again, in another town. A town called Ordinary.”

Remedy’s Sam Lake later acknowledged the soundbite, tweeting it verbatim alongside a link to an expertly crafted blog that teased more to come.

You know what they say about hindsight, eh? Those enamoured by Alan Wake would have to wait a full eight years to find out where Alan’s journey would take him next. The town of Ordinary was none other than the hometown of Control protagonist Jesse Faden. While the base game held several secrets as to Alan Wake’s fate, Remedy doubled down with an Alan Wake-themed piece of DLC called AWE alongside a confirmation it had created the “Remedy Connected Universe”.  Said endeavour is one that links not only Control and Alan Wake, but seemingly the likes of Quantum Break and even Max Payne to some extent (via Wake’s Alex Casey).

Now it’s entirely possible that Remastered‘s credits — updated to take into account the work Remedy and d3t have done to offer the game in 4K on current-gen platforms — merely keep the line in to be true to the original, but that seems kinda mean. Alan Wake 2 has been rumoured for some time now, with many believing Remedy and Epic Games have partnered for the sequel. This new release on Alan Wake Remastered across multiple platforms bolsters reports, though nothing has been confirmed as yet.

We’ve asked Remedy and Epic Games for comment on this new Alan Wake adventure and will update this story when we hear back. While you wait, it’s worth playing through Alan Wake’s American Nightmare once you’ve gotten through Remastered‘s content.

Update: A representative for Remedy and Epic Games has told Stevivor they do not have comment on the matter at this time. We had to try, eh?
