Alan Wake 2 New Game Plus adds Nightmare difficulty, more manuscript pages

Yes please.

Those looking to prolong their Alan Wake 2 experience will rest easier knowing a special New Game Plus mode is on the way.

According to Remedy head Sam Lake, the mode will not only let players retain their weapons and upgrades, but will add a new Nightmare difficulty alongside an “alternative narrative”.

“The New Game + in Alan Wake 2 is an additional layer to the already layered experience,” Lake wrote. “This has always been part of the plan. I’m so happy we can give you a reason to return to the experience once you have played it through.”

According to a tweet from Remedy, the new content will include “new Manuscript pages and new video content.”

While this is all fantastic news — especially considering I’ll need to play through Alan Wake 2 again myself to pick up the one missable video that slipped through my fingers — Remedy was quick to point out that the New Game Plus mode doesn’t have a release date as yet.

We’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Alan Wake 2 is now available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5; we reviewed it here.
