Activision Blizzard settles sexual harassment suit for $18m USD

Other lawsuits are pending.

Activision Blizzard has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for $18 million USD.

According to The Washington Post, anyone who worked at the publisher between 1 September 2016 to the present can submit a claim to the EEOC to be considered for relief as part of the settlement. Claimant have to submit paperwork to be considered for the opt-in settlement.

It’s important to note that those who do file with the EEOC will not be permitted to be part of a similar lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH).

Following the settlement, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said the publisher has a goal to become “a model for the industry, and we will continue to focus on eliminating harassment and discrimination from our workplace. The court’s approval of this settlement is an important step in ensuring that our employees have mechanisms for recourse if they experienced any form of harassment or retaliation.”

Besides the DFEH lawsuit, another suit alleging sexual harassment at the publisher was filed earlier in the month.
