As we detailed in our PGA Tour 2K21 review, an HB-RS error code meant our MyCareer mode was cut short as we couldn’t connect to in-game servers and continue our domination of the leaderboard. We’ve thankfully found a workaround to the situation, and while it’s not entirely ideal, it’ll at least get you back playing.
Playing on Xbox One, we’ve found that we’ll encounter the HB-RS error code in MyCareer mode even though Xbox One networking reports (and speedtests) come up crystal clear. Any other mode — including online matchmaking — also works without issue.
After a bunch of testing, we’ve found that switching from our hardwired, NBN connection to a wireless connection, tethered to an iPhone instantly rectifies PGA Tour 2K21‘s issues. Hopefully you’ll find the same is true if faced with the same problem!
Here’s the kicker, though — playing as a different gamertag and using the hardwired internet connection, other players have no MyCareer issues on the same Xbox One. It appears (across multiple Xbox One consoles too) that I personally can only progress when tethering my phone now. It’s extremely strange, and something I hope can eventually be fixed by developer HB Studios. I’ve sent through as much information as I can about my error so hopefully it can help sort the situation out if anyone else is encountering it.
PGA Tour 2K21 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch and Stadia where available.
