Shut uuuuuuuuup.
I was running a 1.25 KD in Halo Infinite last night, simultaneously being heckled by a player on my own team.
“Mommy’s Credit Card,” he repeatedly sneered at me, noting the $10 AUD Cloud9 skin that I bought because it both represents Stevivor colours and makes my Spartan look like DC’s Nightwing. “You going to carry us, Mommy’s Credit Card?”
Because Halo Infinite‘s social UI is a bit underwhelming, I couldn’t actually tell which of my two microphoned teammates (at .25 and .32 KDs accordingly) was continually trying to abuse me, but I did eventually figure out how to mute them both. I’d now like to pass that information onto you.
You’ve got two options — disabling voice and chat for everyone (except for any Party you join, obviously) or muting specific people.
How to disable voice/text chat in Halo Infinite
- Go to Settings
- Head to the Audio tab
- Uncheck boxes for both Fireteam & Lobby Chat and Match Chat (see below)
How to mute players in Halo Infinite using a controller
This one is stupidly tricky for some reason. You can mute individuals in a match, but it requires going through a couple screens.
- Hit the Start button on your controller to see the Settings menu (not the Options button which shows a list of players)
- THEN hit the Options button on controller or Tab button on PC to go into the Social menu
- From here, highlight a player and press A on controller to go into a menu to Mute, or simply press Y to mute all players
How to mute players in Halo Infinite on PC
This one is stupidly tricky for some reason. You can mute individuals in a match, but it requires going through a couple screens.
- Hit the Escape button on your PC to see the Settings menu (not the Options button which shows a list of players)
- THEN hit Tab (or use your mouse) on PC to go into the Social menu
- From here, highlight a player using your mouse on PC to go into a menu to Mute, or simply press R to mute all players
Problem solved!
