Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge explained

Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge is now live, offering group rewards to those to pitch in to achieve several goals. This post will detail what those goals are.

Defeat 300 million Hive on Mars

Honestly, our collective might will basically make this happen while we action other challenges. Let’s move on.

Defeat 175,000 Wave 7 Escalation Protocol Bosses

You read that right, folks — it’s back to Escalation Protocol. Only Wave 7 bosses — or, endbosses, really — will work towards our comunity goal.

This week’s EP boss is Bok Litur, Hunger of Xol, which means that players have the chance to earn up one of three EP weapons: a sniper rifle, shotgun or SMG. Moreover, you can earn EP armour through this activity; all those drops are important for the Wayfarer title.

Nightfalls: Defeat Nokris 150,000 times in Nightfalls & Xol 100,000 times

More Nightfalls — which you’re likely familiar with if you’ve been going for the special Braytech Osprey Strike drop, required for the Wayfarer title.

Xol doesn’t drop anything all that special, but let’s get to work in killing him — it?

Use 300,000 Override Frequencies

Override Frequencies are obtained through combining resonance stems and lead you to Rasputin nodes distributed all throughout Mars. You’ll occasionally get a decent Braytech weapon drop when going through these motions, again necessary for the Wayfarer title.

The rewards? They ain’t much, but whatever. If you run at least one Nightfall this week you get this emblem/banner:

Rewards

First, anyone who completes a Nightfall this week will earn a special banner. If we collectively complete the Mars Community Challenge, we’ll all get further rewards from successful Menagerie completions, including a guarantee of two rewards when slotting runes and opening chests. Each Friday, another reward will be added to the pile.

Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
