Driveclub was delayed to ensure it was “great”

Originally slated to be a launch title for the PlayStation 4, Driveclub was delayed in October 2013 just prior to the launch of the console. Now, Scott Rohde — Development Head for Sony Worldwide Studios America — has told IGN that Driveclub was sent “back to the drawing board.”

“[W]e want to build great games and we really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready,” Rohde said. “And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.”

When asked if there was a new release date for the game Rohde said, “We’re not announcing any specifics on that yet.” He also refused to say whether the game would see release in 2014.
