Here we go again.
A new Change.org petition is asking that IGN’s Doom review be removed from Metacritic as it is affecting the game’s overall score.
“Doom recently got a 7.1 in IGN, severely altering the score that it deserves, All [sic] other reviewers give it sterling reviews and has 90% and above score on steam [sic]. Advanced warfare [sic] received a 9.1 yet being a mediocre game, IGN is paid off by large devs and shouldn’t be use as a legit source of review,” wrote the very eloquent Ivan Kovalev.
Sic.
We tried to be pretty neutral when this happened with Uncharted 4, but come on already. Love or hate Joab Gilroy’s review (and full disclosure: I know him personally. And love him. And hate him.), it’s his opinion of the game. And in my own personal opinion, it’s well-written too. In other words, get over it.
Doom‘s currently sitting at an 87 on Metacritic.
What do you think of the recent trend of petitions to “save” a game’s Metacritic score?
