Worms Rumble is an RTS heading to PC, PS4, PS5 this year

Worms Rumble marks the first time the long-running franchise will offer up real-time strategy (RTS) gameplay when it launches later this year on Windows PC, PS4 and PS5.

“So why real-time? We of course love the turn-based versions of Worms and it’s what we’ve done for so many years,” Team17’s Danny Martin wrote on the PlayStation Blog.

“Working on Worms W.M.D was an absolute blast and we’re really proud of it. But we’ve always wanted to push the envelope that little bit further and scratch that “what-if” itch. Sure, we’ve done spins offs of Worms before, but we wanted to go all out and see if we could pull off a real-time version of Worms.”

The title has already been confirmed to support 32-player, cross-platform multiplayer. A PC beta kicks off on July 15; those interested in taking part can register for it here.

Worms Rumble heads to Windows PC, PS4 and PS5 in late 2020.
