The Witcher Blood Origin a prequel miniseries heading to Netflix

The Witcher Blood Origin is a new prequel miniseries heading to Netflix, the company has recently announced.

The six-part series will take place in “an elven world” that’s a whopping 1,200 years prior to the events already seen in Season 1 of The Witcher. The series will explore the origins of the very first Witcher alongside the circumstances that caused the merger of the worlds of men, monsters and elves.

“A question has been burning in my mind ever since I first read The Witcher books,” Blood Origin‘s head, Declan de Barra, said. “What was the Elven world really like before the cataclysmic arrival of the humans? The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell the tale of the Elven civilization before its fall, and most importantly reveal the forgotten history of the very first Witcher.”

The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will serve as Executive Producer on the show while The Witcher author, Andrzej Sapkowski, will act as creative consultant.

There’s no word on when we should expect The Witcher Blood OriginThe Witcher Season 1 stars Henry Cavil as Geralt and is available now on Netflix. An animated film about Witcher Vesemir is also in the works at Netflix.
