We could get the opportunity to buy more Borderlands on current-gen hardware

In an interview with Xbox’s Major Nelson, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford expressed interest in bringing the original Borderlands to the current generation of consoles should The Handsome Collection, containing Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, prove successful.

Pitchford says that the original Borderlands wasn’t included in The Handsome Collection due to the game running on a different engine which would have required significant work to port. If The Handsome Collection sells well I get the feeling that work will be deemed worthwhile, and we get the chance to buy the entire Borderlands series on current generation hardware, in two separate packages.

Considering how we feel about the announcement of The Handsome Collection so soon after the release of the last generation “exclusive” Pre-Sequel, I’m sure another Borderlands remake for Xbox One and PS4 would go down well here at Stevivor.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be out 27 March for Xbox One and PS4. It contains Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and all downloadable content for both games.
