Wapeach design shows what Wario-style Peach could’ve looked like

Alas, she was rejected.

The creator of Waluigi took to Instagram to show off a rejected design for Wapeach, a Wario-style Peach, before quickly pulling the designs. The internet being what it is, the designs have been grabbed by others in case you’ve not had a chance to look yet.

First, Waluigi creator Fumihide Aoki posted both sketches and a 3D model of Wapeach, which can now be found here on Twitter. We’ve also posted the sketches below, courtesy Twitter’s gosokkyu.

Designed for Wario Power Tennis on the Gamecube, we already knew that Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto rejected Wapeach designs as he felt they would be “just like Doronjo, so don’t bother” (also via gosokkyu). If that reference confuses you, you’re not alone; it’s referring to a character from the Yatterman anime series.

During the same interview referencing Yatterman, Shugo Takahashi, co-founder of Camelot, the studio behind Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, said he disagreed and that Wapeach was more “datenshi-style”. To him, that meant Wapeach was more suggestive of a fallen demon or angel.

Aoki took to Instagram to answer some comments on his post before removing it. In those posts, he said that Wapeach would consider Peach her rival (obviously), and was also possessive of a “scary personality”.

What do you make of the rejected designs? Do they fit in the Wario-style, or are they still a bit too cutesy? Sound off in the comments area, below.
