Ubisoft is trying to enter the battle royale genre once again with Ghost Recon Frontline, a free-to-play title set in the popular Tom Clancy‘s universe.
“The game features an advanced class system and large set of tactical support tools, allowing for complete freedom in strategic gameplay, with multiple ways to outsmart enemy teams and win each match,” Ubisoft said in a statement.
This iteration of a battle royale will feature class-based squads and “an immersive, full first-person perspective with full cross-platform support”.
“The game offers various game modes, from quick and casual to highly tactical,” Ubisoft’s statement continues. “Featuring 100+ players in teams of three, the flagship Expedition mode is the ultimate test of teamwork: it includes dynamic objectives strewn across the massive open map with no converging circle, where players must work together and utilize their combined skills in order to call for extraction.”
Ubisoft has previously tried to enter the battle royale space with Hyper Scape.
A release date for Ghost Recon Frontline wasn’t named, but a European closed PC test will kick off next week.
